PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color processing apparatus and a color processing method capable of ensuring the continuity of a converted output color signal with respect to the continuity of a conversion object color signal when converting the conversion object color signal comprising M color components into the converted output color signal comprising N color components, calculating the conversion at a high speed and being compatible with total amount restriction of color materials. PSOLUTION: A color gamut setup section 11 establishes a color gamut, wherein a particular color component uniquely corresponds to an input side color signal and produces a color signal pair whereby the input side color signals and the respective particular color components in the color gamut are respectively made correspond to each other. An extended color component calculation section 12 calculates the respective color components, corresponding to the conversion object color signals on the basis of the color signal pairs. A principal color component calculation section 13 calculates a principal color component, on the basis of the particular color component and the conversion object color signal and obtains the converted output color signal, on the basis of the principal color component and the particular color component.
