PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantitative evaluation of image quality for quantifying visual poorness, such as lines and unevenness in different patterns, and improving accuracy of evaluation of image quality. PSOLUTION: The method for quantitative evaluation of image quality for capturing image of an object for evaluation as two-dimensional image data and to evaluate image quality, by calculating accuracy of evaluation of image quality sets at least one kind of parameter for evaluation P(i, j) (i, j are positive integer indexes) from image data, calculates an average value PSBAV/SBof the evaluation parameter P(i, j) with respect to the image as a whole, finds each deviation ¾ΔP(i, j)¾ of the evaluation parameter P(i, j) at each position of the image from the average value, sets weighting function related to the deviation, and finds the integrated values of the deviation and weighting function with respect to the image as a whole, to evaluate the image quality by setting the evaluation of the image quality, based on the sum total of each integrated value over the image as a whole.
