PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical repeater in which deterioration of waveform due to SPM-GVD effect can be compensated readily without designing/ manufacturing a light dispersion compensator depending on individual transmission lines, labor and time required for configuring an optical communication system are reduced and the cost is also reduced.;SOLUTION: The optical repeater comprises a section for dividing the wavelength of light, a first optical amplifying section for amplifying the light subjected to wavelength division, a section for compensating dispersion of an optical signal amplified at the first optical amplifying section, a second optical amplifying section for amplifying an optical signal outputted from the dispersion compensating section, and an optical multiplexing section receiving the output from the second optical amplifying section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
