PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a degradation diagnostic device of an iron-based structure, capable of easily inspecting a defect, such as corrosion on the inner surface of a wall of the iron-based structure from the outer surface of the wall with ample accuracy.;SOLUTION: A defect detector has a detection circuit that has a coil for a biased magnetic field on a magnetic impedance effect element and detects the output of the element through a detection circuit, and makes it scan while the magnetic impedance effect element is close to an inspected surface. The defect detector has a flexible board section elastically deformed along the inspected surface, and the magnetic impedance effect element and coil for biased magnetic field are mounted to the flexible board section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
