PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely restore backed up data to a new portable terminal simply and at a low cost even at the time of replacement of portable terminals.;SOLUTION: This data backup device 1 is connected to a portable terminal 3 via a charger 2. The data backup device 1 backs up data stored in the portable terminal 3 via the charger 2. In this case, the data backup device 1 generates a backup ID on the basis of the terminal ID of the portable terminal 3 and the device ID of the data backup device 1. Then, the data backup device 1 stores the uniquely generated backup ID in the portable terminal 3 via the charter 2. At the time of restoration of the data, the data backup device 1 authenticates the backup ID stored in the portable terminal 3 and only when authentication is successful, restores the backed up data to the portable terminal 3 via the charger 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
