PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition in which ultraviolet absorbing compound is incorporated between layers of a crosslinked type layered zinc hydroxide and to provide an ultraviolet absorbent or an external preparation using the composition.;SOLUTION: In the ultraviolet light absorbent or the external preparation, an incorporated ultraviolet absorbing compound absorbs ultraviolet among compositions in which the ultraviolet-absorbing compounds are incorporated between layers of crosslinked type layered zinc hydroxide, and a skeleton part of the crosslinked type layered zinc hydroxide scatters the ultraviolet light to block the ultraviolet light.
