PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize and manage individuality each piece of articles without attaching identification display to the article itself, by optically recognizing a speckle pattern as a identification keyword of the article and registering the speckle pattern by being related to various pieces of desired information required for lot management of the articles. SOLUTION: This speckled pattern being a monolithic granular pattern intrinsic to the article 1 to be managed is generated on the reflected light of the laser beam irradiating the article 1 and the speckled pattern is optically grasped as video by a charge-coupled device(CCD) camera 3. A processing to process the speckle pattern into a binary image by removing comparatively small granular pattern among the monolithic granular patterns is performed to the image picked up speckled pattern by an image processor 4. The speckled pattern which is processed to the binary image is registered in a storage device 5 together with information required for the lot management such as a manufacturing factory, manufacturing line and a manufacturing data to be inputted from a lot management information input device 10 and stored by being related to lot management information.
