PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grain determining device capable of objectively and comprehensively determining the property or the like by image analysis of grains. PSOLUTION: The grain determining device 1 comprises a staining means for staining grains of brown rice, milled rice or the like with a reagent; a compartment 2A that is made of black material, in oblique direction has any number of holes, has hypertonic solution filled in each hole, and stores the stained grains; an imaging unit 3 for imaging stained grains stored in each hole of the compartment 2A and obtaining an image; an analysis determination processing means for determining properties, such as the area, grain length, grain width, check, histogram of color tone by image analysis processing of the stained grains, based on an image obtained by the imaging unit 3; and an output means formed of a liquid crystal display 5 and a printer 7 for visually outputting the grain image and property information of the grains in association with each other, based on the determination result.
