PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for learning a foreign language by which the training of a bottom-up processing and the training of a top-down processing are performed systematically.;SOLUTION: In a hard disk 124 of a computer 100 operating as the device for learning a foreign language, pairs of words that a learner is prone to confuse in understanding and semantic information and audio information of each word are correlated with each other and stored, and context information and non-context information is correlated with each of the pair of words and stored. Under control of a CPU 120, the device for learning a foreign language outputs to the learner a first exercise in which a pair of word are shown as choices and at least either one piece of semantic information and audio information corresponding to either one of the pair of words is presented to prompt the learner to choose either one of the pair of words, and a second exercise in which a pair of words are shown as choices and either context information or non-context information corresponding to the pair of words is presented to prompt the learner to choose one of the pair of words.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
