BINDING FORMULATION FOR INCORPORATION OF MICRO OR MACRONUTRIENT POWDER IN FERTILIZER; AND FERTILIZER COMPOSITION UNDERSTANDING BINDING AND FERTILIZING FORMULATION. The present invention relates to a binder formulation for incorporation of powdered micro or macronutrients into granulated fertilizer and to a fertilizer composition comprising binder formulation and fertilizer. The principle of this invention is based on the gelling, thickening and adhesive properties of hydrocolloids prepared with alkaline polyacrylates, polyvinyl alcohol, vinyl polyacetate, alkaline and alkaline earth salts of alginic acid (poly beta dmanuronic acid), pectins, starches, dextrins, natural gums. such as xanthan gum, guar gum, locusta gum (locust bean), acacia gum, tara gum, carrageenan gum (iota, kappa and lambda), agar, microcrystalline cellulose, all alkylcellulose ethers such as methylcellulose ether, hydroxyethylcellulose ether, alkaline and alkaline earth salts of carboxymethylcellulose, carboxyethylcellulose, carboxypropylcellulose and carboxybutylcellulose and a combination thereof. The invention will be widely used in the fertilizer industry, specifically in the incorporation of powdered micro or macronutrients in fertilizers.
