In the present invention, there is disclosed an ingredient scrap briquette intended into a charge for metallurgical units, based on metallurgical scrap and binding agents wherein the invented ingredient briquette contains 50 to 98 percent by weight of metal-bearing and/or non-metallic metallurgical scrap in the form of fine powder fractions, a fine fraction and/or stabilized metallurgical sludges, 1 to 25 percent by weight of binding agents and the balance being water and optionally accompanying scrap admixtures. There is also disclosed a process for producing the above described ingredient briquette wherein the production process is characterized by mixing together metallurgical scrap in the form of powder and/or lumpy particles and/or a sludge with a binding agent and water whereupon the obtained mixture is treated by applying pressure into the form of briquettes. Unstable metallurgical sludge is first chemically stabilized by mixing thereof with a stabilizer whereupon it is subjected for a stabilization period to the action thereof in order to finish reactions being in progress therein.
