A system for a laminate product as hot bar from a rolling mill (10), and to deliver the product in stick form to a cooling bed (12), said apparatus comprising: means shear (16) for subdividing the product as bar in bar segments and for alternately directing the bar segments to one or the other of two intermediate paths (PB, PC) downstream, for continued travel thereon; diverter means (18, 20) in each of said intermediate paths for alternately directing bar segments traveling thereon, to one or other of two respective supply lines (PD, PE, PF, PG) downstream, for continued travel thereon to said cooling bed; and decelerating means for slowing the bar segments traveling along said delivery paths, characterized in that said decelerating means comprises first and second decelerators (24, 26 32, 34) spaced along of said supply lines, operating said first decelerator to slow the bar segments to a lower intermediate speed than the speed at which the product in stick form is delivered from said rolling mill (10), and operating said second decelerator to further reduce the speed of the bar segments from said intermediate speed to a suitable lower speed for delivery to said cooling bed (12), the distance between said first and second major decelerators that the length of said bar segments .
