A capillary array electrophoresis(CAE) micro-plate with an array ofseparation channels (50) connected to anarray of sample reservoirs (101) on theplate. The sample reservoirs (101) areorganized into one or more samplein-jectors (100-116). One or more wastereservoirs are provided to collect wastesfrom reservoirs in each of the samplein-jectors. Additionally, a cathodereser-voir (120) is also multiplexed with oneor more separation channels. Tocomplete the electrical path; an anodereser-voir (180) which is common to some orall separation channels is also providedon the micro-plate. Moreover, thechan-nel layout keeps the distance from theanode to each of the cathodesapproxi-mately constant.
