A sample of heterogeneous material is analyzed by directing a mixed-wavelengthlaserpulse at the sample to produce a plasma. The mixed wavelength pulse containsbothshorter and longer wavelength components. The composition of the material isdetermined from the emission spectrum of the plasma.
