The present invention is a housing for a surface-mountabledevice such as a security device (a PIR, a microwave motiondetector, and the like). The housing has asurface--mountable housing portion with at least one aperture forreceiving a surface-mounting member therethrough, thehousing portion fabricated substantially from a plasticmaterial. A member-retaining portion is integrally moldedwith the housing portion and extends substantiallyperpendicular from said housing portion, saidmember--retaining portion adapted to receive a surface-mountingmember when inserted therethrough and retain saidsurface--mounting member in place. As a result of thisconfiguration, when a surface-mounting member such as ascrew is inserted therethrough, the surface-mounting memberis held in place by the member-retaining portion and isinsertable through the aperture when pressure is appliedthereto. Preferably, the aperture is circular and themember-retaining portion is substantially cylindrical withat least one slot extending along said member-retainingportion. The member-retaining portion is adapted so as toallow a user to push a surface-mounting member therethroughand to hold the surface-mounting member in place. Themember-retaining portion is compressible and/or collapsibleso that when a surface-mounting member is insertedtherethrough so as to force the surface-mountable housingportion against a wall, the member-retaining portion issubstantially compressed and/or collapsed between a headportion of the surface-mounting member and the housingportion.
