Disclosed is a method for detecting crosswind loads in a traveling railwayvehicle. Said method comprises the following steps: a) aerodynamic measureddata (e.g. pressures) are detected on at least one first lateral surfacesection of the railway vehicle; b) a speed of the railway vehicle is detected;c) a reference table is accessed that contains correlations betweenaerodynamic measured data of the traveling railway vehicle detectable in step(a) and the associated approach flow direction of the traveling railwayvehicle; d) the sum and the direction of the prevailing crosswind arecalculated based on the measured data from step (a), the vehicle speed fromstep (b), and the reference table accessed in step (c); e) the track sectionis detected within which the measurement from step (a) is carried out; and f)the crosswind data calculated in step (d) is stored as a geographical byallocating the same to the track section detected in step (e). Also disclosedare a method for taking into account crosswind loads as well as a last car ofa railway vehicle configured to carry out both methods.
