The invention relates to a femoral head cap (1) for surface replacement prostheses of the hip joint, with an inner anchoring face (6) for securing to the hip joint (2), characterised in that the inner anchoring face (6) has a first section (3) for the cemented anchoring of the femoral head cap (1) to the apical section of the hip joint (2) and a second section (4) for the cement-free anchoring of the femoral head cap (1) to the most cylindrical section of the hip joint. The invention also relates to a method for applying cement to a femoral head cap and to an applicator therefor.
