DATABASE COMPRISING TOPOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ON OBSTACLES AND METHOD FOR GENERATING ONE SUCH DATABASE

The invention relates to a database and a method for generating a database comprising topographical information on obstacles (60, 61, 62, 64, 65) distributed over a geographical area which is sub-divided into cells (C1-C6). Said method comprises the following steps: (i) topographical data from heterogeneous sources is read; (j) topographical data relating to scattered obstacles (61, 62, 64) is generated from the information collected in step (a); (k) topographical data relating to linear obstacles (60, 65) is generated from the information collected in step (a); and (1) the obstacle database is created. Each cell (C1-C6) comprises a link towards the obstacles whose co-ordinates in the geographical area covered by the cell are recorded with an incertitude value (63, 66, 72, 73, 74). The invention can be especially applied to the generation of a database on-board an aircraft.
