Provided are a method for producing nano-size AlO(OH) using an inorganic synthetic clay, which overcomes usage limits of a product resulted from an inorganic surfactant, and aluminum oxide capable of being prepared in a nano-size without requiring a pulverization process. The nano-size AlO(OH) with a particle size of 1-50nm is produced by reacting Al(NO3)3 and NH4(OH) in presence of laponite, the inorganic synthetic clay, and using water as a reaction medium. Per 100g of Al(NO3)3, 2-20g of laponite is used. The mole ratio of Al(NO3)3 to NH4(OH) is 3.0-3.2:1. For a maximum yield, the reaction between Al(NO3)3 and NH4(OH) is carried out under pH5-9. Particularly, laponite is used as a dispersant, not as a thickener or nano clay, so as to obtain a sufficient dispersion effect.
