METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR HANDOFF CDMA 1X UNLICENSED MOBILE ACCESS SERVICE AND CDMA 2000 1X SERVICE

A handoff method and system between a CDMA2000 1x UMA(Unlicensed Mobile Access) service and a CDMA2000 1x service are provided to seamlessly provide a voice and packet service of a CDMA2000 service starting from an unlicensed frequency of a building or home through a CDMA2000 mobile communication network provided at a licensed frequency. A standard AP(Access Point)(122) serves as a base station of a CDMA2000 1X UMA service. A broadband IP network(124) includes a wired network and a wireless network and provides a path of the CDMA200 1X UMA(Unlicensed Mobile Access) service. A URS(UMA Registration Server)(126) performs authentication and location registration when an MS(110) is connected, and when the MS(110) is successfully authenticated, the URS(126) transmits an IP address to allow the MS(110) to be connected with the CDMA2000 1X UMA service. A CUC(CDMA2000 UMA Controller)(128) is connected with a PDSN(140) through a standard interface to provide a voice service and a data service. A CUN(CDMA2000 UMA Network)(220) provides the CDMA2000 1X UMA service to the MS(110). The MS(110) is connected with the CUC(128) through an IP connection via the standard AP(122) and the broadband IP network(124) and receives the CDMA2000 1x UMA service. The MS(110) uses a CUC handoff request message in the handoff to the CDMA2000 1x service and uses a PSMM(Power Strength Measure Message) from the CDMA2000 1x service to the CDM2000 1x UMA service.
