A health care food composition comprising the novel processed ginseng or extract thereof showing increased amount of ginsenoside Rg5 for preventing and improving cancer disease
A healthy and functional food containing processed ginseng or its extract having increased contents of ginsenoside Rg5 is provided. The food has excellent anticancer effect and thus can be used for prevention and treatment of cancer. The processed ginseng is obtained by heating ginseng with 1 to 3 times the volume of water. In case of ginseng dried in its original shape while retaining skin, the temperature is 126 to 130deg.C and the internal pressure is 1.40 to 1.50kgf/cm^2, in case of white ginseng, the temperature is 126 to 130deg.C and the internal pressure is 2.8 to 3.0kgf/cm^2. The extract of the processed ginseng is obtained by extracting the processed ginseng in a mixed solvent containing methanol and methylene chloride in a volume ratio of 1.20:0.80. The healthy and functional food is powder, granules, tablets, capsules, syrup or drinks.
