Method associating signals from tire monitoring modules, with individual wheels of vehicle including spare, evaluates doppler shift of signals received
Doppler effect is evaluated, to associate each tire module (1-4) with its respective wheel position on the vehicle. There are four stages. In the first, the doppler shift of signals from each module is determined. Each module also transmits an identification number (ID) to the vehicle receiver (5). This ID is unique to each wheel position. The second stage associates the shifts with the IDs, storing the results in memory. In a third stage, the maximum- or averaged shift is determined for each tire module signal. In the final stage, an angle (aj) is associated with each tire module. The module with the greatest shift is associated with the most acute angle. The angles are linked individually with the wheel positions (i.e. the integer j relates to front left or right, rear left or right). Relevant tire information recorded is: pressure, temperature and age. The vehicle receiver is located such that between it and each wheel position, there is a different angle aj. An independent claim is also included for a computer program product.
