Operating microscope has a dosimeter (2) which is formed in such away that the dosimeter permits a spectrally weighted measurement of the illuminating-beam dosage in a limited wavelength range or several spectrally weighted measurements of the illuminating-beam dosage, in different limited wavelength ranges. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Illuminating device for human or animal eye; and (2) Method for limiting operating time when an operating microscope engages with object-field illumination.
