The method involves delivering light from a light emitting diode (LED) to samples within an exposure phase, and detecting the light that is embossed under interaction with the sample, with respect to spectral intensity distribution. Presence of substances is determined within a mathematical measuring signal processing by including the spectral intensity distribution of the detected light. A compensation function representing the dependency of the distribution of the lights, which are delivered on part of the LED, by the temperature of the LED, is processed within the signal processing. An independent claim is also included for a method of determination of material specific absorptions.
