A cutting tool (C1) has a cutting unit (CU) (102) to be moved along a workpiece during cutting; a first guiding element (GE) (103) supporting the CU; a second GE (110), below the first GE and movably supporting the first GE during movement in the cutting direction within a sliding surface; and a releasable locking device (130) to prevent or allow upward movement (perpendicular to the sliding plane) of the first GE from the second GE. Independent claims are included for: (1) a guiding device for moving a CU of a cutting tool to be moved along a workpiece during cutting, comprising first and second GE's as above, where the first and second GE's have respective first and second surfaces in sliding contact with each other; and an adjusting device for the intermediate space between the two surfaces, having an adjusting screw inserted in the first GE and a controlling element cooperating with the screw to move the second GE in dependence on the screw and adjust the intermediate space; and (2) a cutting tool provided with the guiding device.
