An objective (10) forms the image of an object (20) on a photosensor (2). An object lens (11) is provided on the object side while a picture lens (14) is provided on the photosensor side. The surface of the object lens facing the object is concave. The surface of the picture lens facing the photosensor is convex and has a curvature radius, R140, less than or equal to the result of d/((0.8xDB/dxNA)-2), where d is the distance between the photosensor and the picture lens surface, NA is the numerical aperture and DB is the picture circle diameter of the photosensor. An independent claim is also included for an objective.
