The method involves pumping a liquid with a main pump (10) and connecting a suction pump (14) with the main pump in lengthwise by a flexible hose (12). The pump (14) has a screw for supplying the liquid either in a manual operation or due to an effect of a switching device (24) of the pump (10) and to bring the pump (10) for suction, such that a two-stage pump equipment is formed. The screw is arranged in the hose and over a flexible drive shaft (18) connected with a main motor. The pumps (10, 14) are adjusted for assembly at accessible and inaccessible places, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a two-stage pump device.
