The converter has a storage throttle (5) connected in series to a load resistor (7) and connected with an input direct current voltage source by a periodically controlled switching unit (4) in a passage phase. A free wheeling diode maintains current that flows through the load resistor in the locking phase of the switching unit. A current monitoring unit (3) is connected between the input direct current voltage source and the switching unit, where the current monitoring unit produces a clock signal to periodically induce an interlocking phase of the switching unit.
