A device for mixing a binder and hardener in a machine for preparing a filler for application to a surface comprises a concentric rotor (19) in a cylindrical stator (16), both with mixing teeth (23, 24) extending into an annular mixing zone (14) between the rotor and stator. The stator has hardener inlets in communication with the mixing zone and the supply of binder and hardener is controlled so that a small amount of hardener (0.1-5 g) is pre-injected before mixing starts.
