The invention relates to an electron gun for a cathode ray tube comprising, aligned in series along the longitudinal axis (Z) of the barrel, a plurality of electrodes of which at least one has a rectangular opening. The invention is more particularly applicable to electron guns having quadrupole electrodes and having rectangular openings oriented along an axis (X) for certain electrodes and rectangular openings oriented perpendicularly to this axis for other electrodes.Applications: cathode rays.
