The machining of a groove in the periphery of a component, such as a disc (12) of a turbine, consists of forming the groove by stitching. It then consists of subjecting the walls of the groove to an abrasive polishing, by the translation of a polishing tool (24) mounted on the stitching machine. An independent claim is also included for the machining device applying this method for forming a groove in the periphery of a component.
