The device has a balance (1) clipped to a rear wall of a reservoir (18) by clips (5) and includes a lever (2) articulated on a pivot pin. An end of the lever is connected to a rod of a float (9). A spring is provided for maintaining the lever in a stable high position, so that the float closes a valve (19) and immobilizes the float in the high position. The power of the spring is calculated such that, even in case of lack of water in the reservoir, forces exerted backwards by the rod of the float will not tilt the lever backwards.
