PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a contained article from falling due to shaking or free taking-out regarding protection of a housed article such as a cartridge.;SOLUTION: In the protection mechanism for the contained article (cartridge 16), the protection method therefor, the protection program therefor and the library device 2, doors 81 and 82 for opening/closing the cell 6 of a housing shelf 4 to receive/eject a contained article such as a cartridge by an accessor 10 are installed. A locking mechanism (door locking mechanism part 14) for maintaining the doors in locked states is opened/closed by the accessor, and falling of the housed article such as a cartridge in the cell due to shaking or taking-out without notice is prevented by the locked doors.
