PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably manufacture a secondary battery which controls a gap between columnar bodies as active material lumps when a negative electrode active material is formed on a current collector in a lump state (columnar state) and has high energy density and superior cycle characteristics. PSOLUTION: In an inspection method for a negative electrode, light is irradiated on an active material layer formed on a current collector 21 having a plurality of projections at least on one side and including first columnar bodies of an active material grown obliquely from the projections.
