PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: magnesium hydroxide particles which are used as a flame retarder and excellent in economical efficiency; a production method of the same; and a surface treatment method. PSOLUTION: The magnesium hydroxide particles have particle sizes of 0.2-5.0 m, an average particle size of 1.0-1.5 m, a specific surface area within a range of 3-8 mSP2/SP/g, and a polyhedral crystal morphology, formed by the hydration of magnesium oxide. By the production method, the magnesium hydroxide particles can be produced at a low cost.
