PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic photograph creating apparatus capable of compositing a desired additional image, as a background, a foreground or the like, with a photographic image without using a technique of chroma key composition. PSOLUTION: The back of a photographing chamber 2 in the automatic photograph creating apparatus is not colored for chroma key composition, and for a photographic image photographed by a camera 10, an image mask is generated based on a distance (three-dimensional position) of a user measured by a laser scanner 30. Namely, a main control device of a main body section 4 produces a pixel mask with a pixel corresponding to a photographic object at a predetermined distance or more (corresponding to a distance to the back) in pixels included in the photographic image as a background and composites an additional image to a photographic image to which the mask is applied, thereby compositing the desired additional image as a background, a foreground or the like without using a technique of chroma key composition.
