PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously measure a change of a PM mass contained in an exhaust gas under a dynamic driving condition such as travel on a road.;SOLUTION: This particulate matter measuring method/instrument includes a particulate matter collecting part 1 for collecting a particulate matter contained in the exhaust gas by a collection filter 41, in a prescribed period when an engine 200 is operated dynamically, the second measuring part 22 for measuring continuously a physical property suggesting indirectly the mass of the particulate matter contained in the exhaust gas, in the prescribed period, a correlation calculating part 82 for calculating a correlation between a mass measured result of the particulate matter collected by the particulate matter collecting part 1, and a time integrated value over the prescribed period as to a measured result by the second measuring part 22, and a conversion part 83 for converting the measured result by the second measuring part 22 into a time-serial change of the mass of the particulate matter, based on the correlation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
