PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of lithium aluminate and to provide the lithium aluminate manufactured by the manufacturing method and having a high specific surface area. PSOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the lithium aluminate wherein a lithium aluminum complex hydroxide is mixed with a lithium salt, then the mixture is heat-treated, the lithium aluminum complex hydroxide and the lithium salt are agitated and mixed in water, then the resultant precipitated product is dried and heat-treated. A heat treatment temperature is preferably 400 to 1,300C. The lithium aluminate manufactured by the method can be used as an electrolyte holding material and a catalyst carrier.
