PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a desired image on a workpiece in a short period of time and also to improve quality of an image formed on the workpiece by engraving a line drawing portion in the image such as a straight line and a curved line as a smooth continuous line.;SOLUTION: An engraving device 10 is equipped with a carriage 30 that holds a line marking tool 31 to engrave line marks on a surface of the workpiece WK, and a carriage 40 that holds a point marking tool 41 to engrave point marks on the surface. The line marking tool 31 and the point marking tool 41 are actuated based on the line mark engraving data and the point mark engraving data which are generated by an outside computer unit 60.
