METHOD FOR REDUCING REARING COST OF SERIOLA QUINQUERADIATA

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the rearing cost of Seriola quinqueradiata by stably and surely continuing both the shipping of cultured Seriola quinqueradiata from larval fish derived from artificial seeds and seedlings and the rearing of parent fish for ovum collection. PSOLUTION: A method for housing artificially cultivated parent fish of the Seriola quinqueradiata in a land water tank in the middle ten days of September, carrying out the ovum collection in December according to an early stage ovum collection technique for controlling the day length and water temperature, increasing the ovary thereof, then injecting a hormone preparation and inducing oviposition, culturing a part of the larval fish for 1 year and shipping the resultant adult fish, cultivating the residual larval fish as the parent fish for 2 years and conducting the ovum collection in December using the early stage ovum collection technique is repeated. Thereby, the culturing period of the Seriola quinqueradiata and the cultivating period of the parent fish are shortened by about one year, respectively.
