PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a banking material evaluation method for judging accurately in advance whether a soil to be used for banking is suitable as a banking material or not, and a banking material improving method reduced in a construction cost.;SOLUTION: A sample of the soil to be used as the banking material is collected to measure a fine particle fraction content Fc, strength of the soil qc is measured in each of a plurality of water content ratios W while changing the water content ratio W in each of the plurality of measured fine particle fraction contents Fc (steps 1-3), and a water content ratio Wqc corresponding to the strength qc required for compaction work for the soil is found based on a relation between the measured water content ratio W and the strength qc (steps 4, 5). Then, the fine particle fraction content Fc of the soil and the water content ratio W thereof are measured (step 6), and compared with the fine particle fraction content Fc of the sample and the water content ratio Wqc corresponding to the strength qc required for compaction work therefor to judge propriety of the soil as the banking material (step 7).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
