PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Japanese sentence modification device for modifying a Japanese sentence so that the Japanese sentence can be machine-translated easily by a general-purpose application used for machine translation of a Japanese sentence. PSOLUTION: The device comprises a sentence structure database, a character database, term database, and a style database, in which easily machine-translated sentence structures, characters, terms, and styles are registered respectively; a modification part extraction means 5 for extracting a structure, a character, a term, or a style that does not conform to the rules on structures, characters, terms or styles from an original Japanese sentence to be read; a display means for displaying the structure, the character, the term, or the style that has been extracted; a modification means 7 for modifying the original Japanese sentence by correcting, giving additions to, or deleting the structure, the character, the term, or the style that has been extracted, using a data inputted from outside; and an output means 8 for outputting the easy-to-translate sentence acquired by the modification.
