Diluted reagents and MCV measurement method for blood sample

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a means generating the coincidence of an MCV to an original value of a blood sample in measurement of hematocrit and RBC number executed within 72 hours after collection of the blood sample.;SOLUTION: This MCV measuring method includes a process wherein a blood sample is treated with an anticoagulant just after collection of the blood sample, a process wherein a morphological change is caused to RBCs in the blood sample by diluting the blood sample treated with the anticoagulant, with a reagent solution of a prescribed osmotic concentration containing a prescribed surfactant within 72 hours after collection of the blood sample even if short, and a process wherein the blood sample is measured with a particle analyzer. The reagent solution contains a nonionic surfactant, a salt for osmotic pressure regulation, and water, while having an osmotic pressure (π) of about 150-400 mOsm/kg and a pH of 6-8.5. The surfactant is contained in a concentration of 0.0005-0.5%, and has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (an HLB) of 10-20.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
