PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an arrayed waveguide grating in which the central wavelength of each waveguide of the arrayed waveguide grating can be corrected with good accuracy, and to realize an arrayed waveguide grating module, a method for correcting the wavelength of the arrayed waveguide grating module, an optical communication device and an optical communication system using the arrayed waveguide grating.;SOLUTION: An arrayed waveguide grating 101 is composed of one or a plurality of input waveguides 103, a plurality of output waveguides 104, one or a plurality of output waveguides 105 for wavelength correction placed adjacent to the output waveguide 104, a channel waveguide array 107, an input side slab waveguide 108, and an output side slab waveguide 109. A connection portion with the output side slab waveguide 109 of the output waveguide 105 for wavelength correction is tapered, and a spectrum of outgoing light becomes steep, thereby the wavelength can easily be corrected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
