PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voucher reception system comprising a voucher reception handling machine and a cash register capable of preventing encashment practice when handling the reception of vouchers such as merchandise coupons paid by a customer as purchase payment by handling the vouchers as detailed data comprising denominations and the number of the vouchers and not by handling them simply as a total sum of the denominations.;SOLUTION: The voucher reception handling machine has a distinguishing means reading denomination codes provided on the vouchers such as the merchandise coupons and a change amount calculating means calculating the amount of change from the denominations and the number of the vouchers such as merchandise coupons paid by the customer as purchase payment read by the distinguishing means and a sales price of purchased commodities sent from the cash register.
