PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving the crystallinity of pore walls to maintain the pores before a crystallization heat treatment as well as the pore structure and its uniformity.;SOLUTION: The method for forming a mesoporous body improved in crystallinity comprises forming a filling mold at least in pores of a precursor of the mesoporous body, which mold maintains the shape during the crystallization heat treatment of the pore walls and is removable after the heat treatment by firing with water or water containing an acid or alkali; subjecting the precursor to the crystallization heat treatment in the presence of the filling mold; and removing the filling mold by firing, with water, or water containing the acid or alkali.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
