The containers (1) holding the plants are moved in the container width direction using a method comprising the following steps: (A) actuating a hydraulic cylinder in order to raise a lifting profile (8) so that the latter takes over the container support function from a support profile (5); (B) rolling an arrangement comprising a push profile (6), the lifting profile and hydraulic cylinder over a distance greater than or equal to the distance between the containers, using a driven rack; (C) retracting the press profile using the hydraulic cylinder so that the containers are again supported by the support profile; and (D) returning the arrangement comprising the push profile, press profile and hydraulic cylinder in the opposite direction to its original position, using the rack. An independent claim is also included for a mobile cultivation system in which the containers are moved in the container length direction using a method comprising the following steps: (A) actuating a press profile in order to raise the container, then positioning the head frame beneath the container using spindles; (B) lowering the container onto displacement rolls in the head frame and moving it in its length direction to the chosen transport path; and (C) moving the head frame to reposition the container above the press profile again, the latter pushing the container upwards.
