The present invention refers to the molecular detection and identification of the Mycobacterium avium subsp. Paratuberculosis (MAP). More particularly, the invention is effected with the development of PCR assays with one or more oligonucleotide primers targeted to different genomic regions of the IS900 element specific for MAP.
