The invention relates to a method and device for recovery of energy from amedium containing combustible substances even at lowconcentrations. The method is characterized by raising the temperature of themedium in a regenerative combustor (8), i.e. a reversal flowdirection combustion device wherein the combustion takes place in a warm zone,to the combustion temperature at which essentially allchemical energy of the combustible substances is transformed into thermalenergy. The heated medium is then utilized for the productionof a wanted form of energy.
