PYROLYSIS PROCESS FOR RECLAIMING DESIRABLE MATERIALS FROM VEHICLE TIRES

A process and system for the recovery of desirable constituent materialsfrom vehicle tire pieces through pyrolysis. The system includes a pyrolysissection that is divided into a plurality of individual heating zones eachheated to adistinct operating temperature. Vehicle tire pieces are fed into the infeedend ofthe pyrolysis section by a rotatable feed cylinder. As the feed cylinderrotates,the supply of vehicle tire pieces is fed into the infeed end of a rotary kilnthat isdivided into the plurality of heating zones. The vehicle tire pieces are fedthroughthe plurality of heating zones in the rotary kiln such that the tire piecesarepyrolyzed as they traverse the rotary kiln. A rotatable trommel is coupled tothedischarge end of the rotary kiln to separate the pyrolyzed tire pieces intotheirconstituent desirable materials.
